BHS Band performs in Breckenridge, Colorado

Fifty-five Benson High School students and 10 adults left for Breckenridge, CO, July 1, to march in their July Fourth celebration parade.
“The trip was amazing, and the kids were great,” Band Director Brock Duncan said. “This is the first time the band has traveled out of state since 2017. It was fun to see our students experience so many new things.”
“The Breckenridge Parade was incredible. The crowd was huge and extremely receptive to the band. Outside Minnesota, crowds are not accustomed to having marching bands, and are certainly not familiar with bands that have a performance routine like ours. We never stopped playing during the entire route,” he said.
In addition to marching in the parade, they went white water rafting on the Arkansas River, saw the Rocky Mountain National Park and Royal Gorge. They traveled to the Garden of the Gods, saw the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, and the Red Rock Amphitheater.
“I am very proud of our students. They represented Benson well, both as a marching band and as young adults,” Duncan said. The students returned July 7.
