 Alton Charles Todd, 84, of Mendota Heights, Minnesota went to his glory August 11, 2024 surrounded in his final hours by his wife and three daughters.
A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, September 10 at 10:30 a.m. at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 1938 Standford Ave, St. Paul, Minnesota 55105 with visitation 9:30 a.m. in the main church. Burial will take place at 1:45 p.m at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery; please arrive to Assembly Area #3 at 1:30 p.m.
Alton was born January 30, 1940 in DeGraff, Minnesota. Alton was raised on the family farm and excelled in academics and in high school sports including football, track, and basketball.
After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving with the “Old Breed,” the 1st Marine Division stationed at Camp Pendleton, California from 1958 to 1961.
Following his honorable service in the Marine Corps, he attended the University of Minnesota earning a bachelor’s degree in economics and accounting in 1967 and a Masters of Business Administration degree in 1970. He then went to work for Arthur Andersen & Company, a large international public accounting firm, for 12 years providing accounting, tax, and computer systems services for clients. After his time at Arthur Andersen, he joined Northwest Airlines at their Minneapolis headquarters working with the management team responsible for overseeing fleet aircraft maintenance, personnel training and scheduling, and daily operations.
He was a dedicated father to his three daughters, loving grandfather to three grandchildren and lifelong supporter of the Marine Corps and Marine Corps veterans.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sandra and his three daughters: Lisa, Boston MA; Sarah (Scottie) Blansett, Centreville, VA; and Andrea (Sean) Harlin, Eagan, MN, and three grandchildren, Catherine, Jackson, and Tadhgan.
Alton requested no flowers and asked that memorials in his honor be sent to the Semper Fi & America’s Fund at 825 College Blvd., Suite 102, PMB 609, Oceanside, CA 92057 or to Grace Hospice at 1015 N 4th Avenue, Suite 206, Minneapolis, MN 55405.
He wished to be remembered as follows; “He fought the good fight, he finished the race, and he kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7). Semper Fi!
