One of the oldest buildings in Swift County, the District 6 school house sitting in Ambush Park in Benson was built in 1871.
Over its 152 years, it has actually played multiple roles in the county and has sat in several different locations. It may now be moving again.
At Monday night’s Benson City Council meeting, Swift County Historical Society Director Gary Mills requested that ownership of the building be turned over to the county and the building moved next to the historical society’s museum on west U.S. 12.
