Gymnasts place second at Morris Invitational

Lead Summary

The Benson-KMS gymnastics team scored 123.975 points during a season-opening win at Marshall, Thursday night.  Benson-KMS also scored above 120 points in 10 of 13 meets last year, but lost three key gymnasts from last year’s team.
MiKaylie Hagen led the Fighting Braves with a 32.35 first-place all-around total that also included first on the vault (8.75) and uneven bars (7.55).  In addition, Sophie Ascheman won the balance beam for Benson-KMS (8.1), and ninth-grader Halle Hanson won the floor exercise (8.45).
Later in the week, the Fighting Braves competed at the Morris Area Invitational where Benson-KMS finished second behind Detroit Lakes, and Hagen was second in the all-around with a score of 33.475.
This week, Benson-KMS was set to host Ortonville, Friday, for the first home match of the season.  During that night, the team will also be hosting the second annual “Tumble for Toys” event.  They ask that fans help donate to the Toys for Toys campaign by bringing boys and cash donations to the meet that night.
