Gail Maureen Hanson, 76, of Sartell, Minnesota (formerly of Hancock) died Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Hancock. Pastor Julius Miller will officiate. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery, rural Hancock.

Gail Maureen Hanson was born April 11, 1947, to Leroy and Helen Johnsen, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She was baptized in Glen Ulin, North Dakota. Gail grew up in Underwood, Minnesota, where she met the love of her life, James “Jimmy” Allen Hanson. They were married November 28, 1964 in Battle Lake, Minnesota. This union was blessed with more than 48 years of marriage, four children, 11 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

Gail and Jim moved to Milbank, South Dakota, and lived there for a few years. They moved to Hancock, Minnesota, in 1966, where they resided until Jim passed away in 2013. Gail then moved closer to her girls in Sartell, Minnesota. In 2021, Gail moved to the Good Shepherd community where she enjoyed playing bingo and visiting with new friends.

Gail worked at multiple food services. She was the manager at Subway in Benson for many years.

Gail enjoyed reading, drinking Classic Coca Cola, watching food shows and the ID channel on television. She enthusiastically enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports throughout the years.

Gail was called from life Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota.

Gail is survived by her children: Keith (Carmen) Hanson of St. Peter, Kurt (Molly) Hanson of Benson, Kimberly Hanson of Sauk Rapids, and Karri (Corey) Leen of Sartell; 11 grandchildren: Josh, Emily (Nate), Sierra (Travis), Brady, Hannah, Halle, Brock, Brogan, Tyler, Hunter, and Mason; and one great grandchild, Ada. She is also survived by her sister Diane Dornburg of Prior Lake;  sister-in-law Inez Messer of Minnetonka; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Leroy and Helen Johnsen; husband James “Jimmy,”; brothers: Bill and Miles; sisters: Viola (Hank) Riss and Patricia (Marv) Green, and brother-in-law Harlan Dornburg.

Zniewski Funeral Home of Benson is assisting the family with the arrangements.
