When Sup. Dennis Laumeyer came on the phone alert system notifying parents and people in the community of the approaching blizzard and forecast for near record snowfall, he said he was doing something he hadn’t done before.

Laumeyer announced that there would be no school Wednesday or Thursday. It was the first time he had called school for two consecutive days. Both were to be e-learning days for Benson Public School students – the last two available.

If there are winter storms in the coming days and weeks that cause school to be called off, it could mean adjusting the last day of school for seniors and the general student body.
