The final goal for Thomas Dineen is still on the table as the senior advanced to his fifth straight Class A State Individual Tournament this coming Friday and Saturday, March 3 and 4, at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Dineen has the opportunity to secure another record in Benson wrestling history – most state titles. He currently has two, which is tied with Ryan “Phreddy” Thompson for the most in school history. He opens the state tournament against Haden Holm of Royalton-Upsala.

“The goal has always been to win the state tournament,” Dineen said earlier in the season. “Things like records and accomplishments will come along the way, but I can’t lose sight of what we want.”

Dineen, who was the state champion in 2021 and 2022, has been ranked at the top of the 195 pound rankings all season.
