David Amundson, 85, of Kerkhoven, Minnesota died Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar.

His memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2026 at Kerkhoven Lutheran Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Benson City Cemetery. 

David Allen Amundson was born March 3, 1941, in Benson, Minnesota, to Arthur and Pearl (Davidson) Amundson. He grew up in Benson and graduated from Benson High School in 1959.

On January 11, 1960, he married Carol Moll at Kerkhoven Evangelical Free Church. They made their home in Kerkhoven, where they raised their six children: Robin, Kari, Dawn, Brent, Holly, and Brady. They later divorced.

Dave worked as a lineman for KMP Telephone Company and TDS until his retirement. He was a member of Kerkhoven Lutheran Church, where he served as both an usher and a deacon. He also served in the Army National Guard for several years and was a member of the Kerkhoven Fire Department for more than 22 years.

Dave enjoyed playing golf and was a past league champion in Kerkhoven. He loved Ford vehicles and was known for keeping both his own and others' vehicles looking their best. Above all, Dave valued time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his six children: Robin (Lonnie) Apol of Alexandria, Kari (Jeff) Rood of Willmar, Dawn Reiners of Becker, Brent Amundson of Alexandria, Holly Bjorklund of Becker, and Brady (Jenny) Amundson of Becker; 13 grandchildren: Amber (Jesse) Bugher, Trevor (Allison) Apol, Karyssa Christianson, Jaymi (Christopher) Magnuson, Jaden Zaeska, Taryn (Jordon) Benson, Kory (Erica) Reiners, Nikki Reiners, Mackenzie Amundson, Bria Amundson, Hadley Bjorklund, Bailey Amundson, and Evie Amundson; and 18 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Virgil Amundson of Starbuck; and his sister, Linda (Bob) Zielsdorf of Benson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son-in-law, Jeff Reiners; his grandson, Sawyer Amundson; his sister, Sharon (Bill) Cronen; and his sister-in-law, Fay Amundson.
