Council proceeds with city manager interviews despite having doubts

Benson’s City Council conducted a special meeting Friday noon to consider whether or not to proceed with city manager interviews Wednesday.
Of the four candidates, three of the four had master’s degrees in business administration sought but not required by the city. It was also looking for someone with at least three to five years of experience that suited them to take over a city manager’s role.
Did the candidates’ resumes show sufficient qualifications to bring them to Benson for two days, requiring their time and expenses, as well as the council’s? Mayor Jack Evenson asked.
