Cottage Square development takes another step forward

Benson took one more step toward seeing a new housing development get underway this spring when it approved the sale of the Cottage Square area in northeast Benson.
Last August, the city agreed to work with Cody Nelson of Nelson Properties of Sauk Centre for the construction of 13 duplexes, or 26 units in two phases, in the Cottage Square area. Nelson recently asked the city to sell him the property now so that it could be listed as an asset when he sought bank financing for the project, the Benson council was told at its March 7 meeting.
Benson is selling the land to Nelson for $1.00. However, the sale comes with conditions.
