Connie S. Ollendick
Connie Sue Ollendick, 74, of Benson, Minnesota died Monday morning, March 18, 2024, at her home in Benson. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Benson, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The burial will be in the Benson City Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Alzheimer’s Association, or The American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge. Connie Sue (Miller) Ollendick was born January 6, 1950, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, the daughter of Lee and Rose (Neal) Miller. She was baptized July 27, 1952, at the Methodist Church in Sleepy Eye. She was confirmed in 1965 by Rev. Hergesheimer at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Benson. She grew up in DeGraff, Minnesota, attended country school and graduated from Benson Senior High School.
October 24, 1970, she was united in marriage to Peter Ollendick by Father John Cooney at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church in Clontarf, Minnesota. This union was blessed with five children. They made their home in rural Benson. In 1988 they moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa, and remained there until moving back to Benson in 1994. Her various jobs included working at the Viking Café, as a secretary for St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Fort Dodge Laboratories, and finally ACMC in Willmar and Benson, of which she retired in 2016 after 22 years there.
Connie was a member of various organizations throughout the communities and churches she attended in Benson and Fort Dodge. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and gardening. She loved spending time with her family and friends and treasured every moment with her grandchildren. She was called from this life on Monday morning March 18 at her home in Benson. She attained the age of 74 years, two months, and 12 days.
Connie is survived by her children: Wendy (Kevin) Wharem, Heather Ollendick, Veronica Tolifson, and Matthew (Reena) Ollendick all of Benson; her grandchildren: Bailey, Brooke, and Sophia Wharem, Scarlett, Ethan, and Samuel Tolifson, and Bree, Anya, Mya, and Liam Ollendick; her siblings: Joyce (Delmar) Stottler of Monticello, Rich Miller of Benson, Darlene (Richard) Miller-Moline of Benson, Karen Quigley of Kerkhoven, and Kevin Miller of Eagen; nieces, nephews, and several other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Lee and Rose Miller, her former husband Peter Ollendick, and a baby boy. Blessed be the memory of Connie Sue Ollendick.
