There are hundreds of communities in Minnesota trying to attract new workers, families, and businesses to their towns to help them grow.

All these communities face challenges. However, understanding the challenges and developing plans to meet them sets those communities that succeed apart from those that decline.

Identifying the Benson area’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats is a necessary step to achieving the success it wants to achieve in the coming years.

To help it plan for the future, the City of Benson brought in Marcy Douglas, a leadership development and strategic planning manager with Missouri River Energy Services, for a weekend retreat March 10 and 11.
