Carol Yost, 67, of Murdock, Minnesota died Saturday, February 22, 2025 at CentraCare Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 4, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, March 3 at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar with a 4:30 p.m. rosary service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church Tuesday. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Carol Theresa Gengler was born October 22, 1957, in Dell Rapids, South Dakota, the daughter of Raymond and Odelia (Peplau) Gengler. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Colman, SD. Carol grew up in the Colman/Dell Rapids area, beginning her education at DeVaney School. She completed her education at St. Mary's Catholic School in Dell Rapids, graduating in 1975.
Following high school, Carol remained at home helping her parents take care of the family farm. She was a faithful member of St. Peter's Catholic Church as the choir director and sacristan, and also helped with the religious education program. She later worked at Central Plains Clinic in Sioux Falls.
June 27, 1998, she was united in marriage to Rod Yost at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Colman. The couple made their home on a farm near Murdock, Minnesota. Carol was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock, serving a sacristan, song leader, lector, and as a member of the CCW. She enjoyed helping on the farm with her husband, Rod. Carol enjoyed gardening, canning the produce from the garden, and baking. She was also a passionate quilter.
Carol was employed by Herberger's from 2003 to 2017 and then worked at Kwik Trip until 2023. Carol was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. February 22, 2025, she ended her pilgrimage on this side of eternity.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Rod of Murdock, MN; siblings: Kathleen Gengler of Pierre, SD, Mitz (Allen) Heine of Saint Helena, NE, Jerry (Pat) Gengler of Dell Rapids, SD, Linda (Freddie) Allison of Tea, SD, and Mary (Doug) Andersen of Tea, SD; brother-in-law: Curly Parlet of Tea, SD; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Besides her grandparents, Carol was preceded in death by her mother, Odelia in 1982; her father, Raymond in 2008; and two sisters: Jeanne Van Holland in 1996 and Joyce Parlet in 2006.
