Braves open up season Aug. 29 versus KMS

The Benson volleyball team is set to open up the season with a home match against KMS, Tuesday, Aug. 29.  The Braves, coached by Shannon Schmidt, are coming off a 4-20 record from a season ago, which also included a 3-11 mark within the WCC.
Benson lost nine members of last year’s team to graduation, including almost the entire starting lineup.  Gone from last year’s team are Nicole Berens, Megan Amundson, Sophie Ascheman, Amanda Nissen, Presley Gonnerman, Kaitlyn Knutson, Danielle Himley, Victoria Pagel, and Dana Rud.
Nissen, Ascheman, Amundson, Gonnerman, Pagel, and Himley were the top six hitters for the Braves last season, while Knutson had the second-most set assists, Amundson, Berens, Ascheman, and Nissen were the top four in digs and serve returns, Pagel led the team in blocks, and six of the top seven servers were Berens, Ascheman, Amundson, Nissen, Knutson, and Gonnerman.
The only other four players to see action last year were current seniors Courtney McNeill, Anna Gosson, Grace Lee, and Leah Molden.....

Grace Lee is one of only four players who played for the Braves last year and return for 2017.
