Braves fall to HLWW in regular- season finale

The Benson football team turned the ball over five times during a 40-13 loss to Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted last Wednesday night in Benson.  The Braves were originally set to play at KMS, but the Saints were forced to end their season due to their head coach being tested positive for COVID-19.

HLWW had an opening and the Lakers took advantage of the opportunity by snapping a 27-game regular-season losing streak with the dominating win over Benson.

The Braves opened up the game with an 84-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Ben Peterson, giving Benson a 7-0 lead only 16 seconds into the game, but the Braves couldn’t keep up with the relentless HLWW running attack, which generated 383 yards of offense on 52 rushes...
