Benson wrestlers win team title at Braves Classic

The Benson wrestling team captured the team title at the Braves Wrestling Classic, Saturday, winning seven of the 14 individual titles in the process.
The Braves, who are 4-3 in dual meets, had 252.5 points to win first place by over 100 points over runner-up Fergus Falls (147.5), while Ortonville was third with 132.5 points, Minnewaska Area was fourth with 121, and Mahnomen-Waubun was fifth with 76 points.
Winning titles for Benson were Wyatt McGee at 120 pounds, Chase Young at 138, Grant Ascheman at 145, Matt Wieber at 182, Trevor Berreau at 195, Tyler Smith at 220, and Dakota Watkins at 285 pounds.
“It was a great team effort,” Benson head coach Randy Weber said.  “We thought if we wrestled well, we had a chance to win, and the guys really stepped up with great effort.
