Benson softball team falls in semis to Hancock
The Benson softball team won its first two playoff games by 7-6 scores before falling into the loser’s bracket with a 6-2 loss to Hancock.
The Braves, seeded first in their half of Section 6A, opened up the tourney with a 7-6 win over BBE last Tuesday night in Benson. The Braves then edged West Central Area, Thursday in Benson, 7-6, on the strength of a grandslam homer by Ellie Moesenthin before losing to the Owls later the same day.
Browerville-EV and Hancock will play in the upper-bracket finals, Tuesday (yesterday), while Benson is one of four teams still alive in the consolation bracket with Parkers Prairie, New York Mills, and CGB.
Benson was set to play Parkers Prairie at 3 p.m., Tuesday (yesterday) at Browerville with the winner moving on to play again at 4:30 p.m. against the winner of NYM and CGB.
The final three teams will play for the Section 6A title, Thursday (tomorrow)...
