Benson-KMS closes out season at section meet
The Benson-KMS cross-country teams raced at the Section 6A Cross-country Meets last week with the boys team running last Tuesday at Long Prairie-GE High School and the girls team racing Thursday at NLS.
Staples-Motley and West Central Area dominated the boys field with 12 runners from those two schools finishing among the 19 overall runners. Landon Thompson was the top runner for the Benson-KMS boys with a time of 18:56 to finish 33rd. The Fighting Braves were 15th overall in the team scoring.
Staples-Motley and West Central Area also placed first and second in the girls meet with Benson-KMS placing 12th. Isabel Wirth was the Fighting Braves’ top runner, placing 31st with a time of 22:09.
“It didn’t go as well as we had hoped, but overall it was a great season and we are looking forward to all the great things they will do next season,” coach Samantha VanHeuveln said following the boys race.
