Benson girls end season vs. NLS

The Benson girls basketball team was eliminated for the season with a 63-27 loss to New London-Spicer in the sub-section semifinals, Thursday at Minnewaska Area High School.

The Braves, seeded fourth in its half of Section 3AA, had defeated fifth-seeded Minnewaska Area in the opening round in Benson, 39-38, but they were not match for the top-seeded Wildcats.

Benson had led the Lakers, 28-21 at halftime before scoring only 11 points in the second half.  Against NLS, the Braves cold shooting continued as Benson scored just seven points in the first half before adding 20 more points in the second half.

NLS, which improved to 26-1 overall, advanced to play EV-Watkins for the sub-section title.

Benson will lose five seniors to graduation, Claire Ricard, Kaitlyn Berreau, Abbie Mitteness, Abby Lundebrek, and Hannah Andrews...
