Benson baseball team eliminated by Paynesville

A great season of baseball came to an end last Tuesday night for the Benson baseball team, which lost at Paynesville in the consolation round of the Section 3AA Baseball Tourney.
The Braves, who finished the season 12-10 overall, opened up the tourney with a 4-3 win over Morris Area and 3-2 loss to top-seeded Atwater-CGC.
Benson was 11-2 at one point in the season before going 1-8 over their last nine games, including three one-run losses and another loss in extra innings.
Benson also finished 7-5 in the WCC to tie for third. BOLD earned the WCC title with a 10-2 record, while Melrose was second at 9-3, Benson and Minnewaska Area were tied for third with 7-5 records, Morris Area-CA as fifth (6-6), Sauk Centre sixth (3-9), and Montevideo seventh (0-12)...
