Benson area to celebrate 84th annual Kid Day

Lead Summary

Parade, coronation, carnival, car show, cruise, and street dance all set for Saturday
Benson is set to celebrate its annual Kid Day this Saturday and Sunday, July 19-20.  The theme of this year’s Kid Day is “Imagine Benson”.
This year’s 2014 Kid Day royalty, selected during Kid Day King and Queen Selection Night June 29 at First Evangelical Free Church in Benson, includes Jy West, Elizabeth Skarsten, Arianna Nagler, Alissa Maurer, Abbey Brown, and Isabella Alsaker.
Outgoing royalty from 2013 includes Allie Mitteness, Mariah Ahrndt, Kaitlyn Berreau, Blake Nagler, Noah Denzer, and Thomas Dineen.
New this year -- Kid Day coronation will take place at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, July 19 (Kid Day) on the steps of the Swift County Courthouse.  That means there will be two courts in the parade this year -- the current 2013 Kid Day royalty, and the newly-selected 2014 royalty.
•  The Kid Day Medallion Hunt was set to begin Monday, July 14.  The clues will be given over KSCR Radio each morning, and will also be posted on the door of the Chamber Office door by 10:30 a.m. each day.  The winner of the Medallion Hunt will receive $75, but winners from the last two years are not eligible.
