To the electors of the City of Benson. Notice is hereby given that a General Election will be held for Mayor and two Council Members at the Benson Armory located at 203 - 14th St. S., Benson, MN 56215 on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Registered voters of the above named city are entitled to vote at said election, and any resident of same who otherwise qualifies but is not previously registered as a voter may register and vote on Election Day.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT:

  There will be a meeting of the Swift County Board of Adjustment on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. at the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) in the lower level of the Swift County Courthouse, 301 14th St. N., Benson, MN to consider the following:

IN THE MATTER OF:  ROLO Dairy, 1780 90th St. SE,
     Kerkhoven, MN  56252 (Owner)

   REQUEST:  Variance from the required ¼ mile setback from neighboring residences for a feedlot expansion which includes a 300’ x 150’ free stall total confinement barn with a robotic milking system and a 4.1 million gallon clay lined earthen basin.  The total mature dairy animal unit capacity will increase from 364 animal units to 621 animal units.

   LOCATION:  SE ¼ of T-120, R-37, Section 13 (Pillsbury Township) in Swift County, MN.

   All interested persons may appear and be heard at said place and time.

SWIFT COUNTY BOARD MINUTES September 17, 2019

Chairman Hendrickx called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM. with all members present with the exception of Commissioner Rudningen. Also present: County Administrator Kelsey Baker, County Attorney Danielle Olson, Terri Orr, other county employees and members of the public.

Chairman Hendrickx asked if there were any changes or additions to the agenda. Chairman Hendrickx had two additional changes under other business, consider approving Chief Deputy Recorder into the County Recorder and Registrar of Titles position and consider approving the new job description for Deputy Recorder. There were no other changes.

  
09-17-19-01 Commissioner Fox moved and Commissioner E. Pederson seconded to approve the agenda as amended. Motion carried unanimously.

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 777, Benson, Minnesota Monday, August 19, 2019 - 5:30 p.m. Benson High School Media Center

The meeting was called to order at 5:31 p.m. by Chair Brian Samuelson.  Members present:  Paul Carruth,  Mary Langan, Bill McGeary, Jim Berens, Eric Peterson, Brian Samuelson and Gary Williams.
Approved agenda with addition of July 15, 2019 Regular School Board Meeting minutes.
Mark Hughes presented several questions under Citizens Comments.
Approved consent agenda.
Progress Reports were presented by the administrators.
Approved base flooring bid for Northside bid package from MCI in the amount of $105,400 and Alternate #2 ($17,400) and Alternate #3 ($20,200).
Ryan Breitbach, CM, presented a construction update stating soil correction is nearly complete and contaminated soil and water will be hauled off site after permits are received. Northside ground breaking ceremony is August 27 at 2:00 p.m.
Discussion was held on Board Goals and will continue at a work session in early October.

SWIFT COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT Request for Bids

NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS –

  The Swift County Highway Department is requesting BIDS for the following items until:

10:00 AM Wednesday October 9th 2019

Bituminous Paving/Patching

Swift County is requesting bids based on a per-ton price for hauling, placing, and compaction of bituminous material to repair/patch multiple random roadway locations.  Approximately 750 tons of material is to be placed.  A map of these locations, along with specifications and details about placement will be available upon request. 
The items and information listed above can be obtained from the Swift County Highway Administration Building, 1635 Hoban Avenue, PO Box 241, Benson, MN 56215.  Sealed bids will then be opened and publicly read at 10:00 AM on Wednesday October 9th 2019 at the Swift County Highway Administration Building, 1635 Hoban Avenue, Benson, MN 56215.

MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL SCHOOL BOARD MEETING INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 777, Benson, Minnesota Tuesday, September 3, 2019 - 5:30 p.m. Benson High School Media Center

Meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Chair Brian Samuelson. Members present:  James Berens, Paul Carruth, Mary Langan, Bill McGeary, Eric Peterson, Brian Samuelson, Gary Williams arrived at 5:36 p.m.
Approved Agenda.
Approved renewing the proposed district property and liability insurance policy with an increase in square footage replacement cost to $250/sq. ft. at an additional cost of $1,711 for a total of $55,125.77. 
Ryan Breitbach presented the bid categories and recommendations, stating the bids have come in $1.1 million under budget to date. Discussion took place.
Accepted the low base bids recommended for BHS bid package #2.
Approved the alternate bid moving the NS conference room into the NS office area for improved security/access in the amount of $44,327.
Approved the alternate bid for BHS HVAC upgrade in areas A, B, C, D center area in the amount of $670,106.

Notice is hereby given per MN Stat. Chap. 116 that ROLO Dairy has made application to the MN Pollution Control Agency and the County of Swift for a permit to construct or expand a feedlot with a capacity of 500 animal units or more.
