John E. Gorres, 71, of DeGraff, Minnesota died Sunday morning, November 14, 2021, at his home in Dublin Township, Swift County, Minnesota. Visitation was held at the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson, from 5:00 p.m.  to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, with a Rosary at 4:30 p.m., and continued Thursday, November 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment was at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery.
John Edmond Gorres was born December 11, 1949, in Comfrey, Minnesota, the son of Leonard and Rosella (Tauber) Gorres. He was baptized in the Catholic Faith and he was confirmed  June 17, 1963 by Bishop Alphonse Schladweiler at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock.  He grew up in the Wanda, Comfrey, De Graff and Murdock areas. He attended St. Paul’s Catholic School in Comfrey and graduated from Murdock High School.  John served our country by joining the Minnesota National Guard.
John loved the land and chose farming as his way of life. He was a member of the Swift County Planning Commission and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock. He enjoyed fishing and collecting toy tractors and machinery. He was called from this life Sunday, November 14, 2021 at his home south of  DeGraff in Dublin Township. He attained the age of 71 years, 11 months, and three days.
John is survived by his brother, Mike (Nancy) Gorres of Danube; sisters: Vickie (Dan) Selix of Benson and Bonnie (Bob) Razink of Princeton; nieces and nephews; and several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Rosella, his grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Blessed be his memory.
Zniewski Funeral Home of Benson assisted the family with the arrangements.
