Local youth competes at Drive, Chip, Putt contest

Arnold Stelzer, the 9-year old son of Justin and Beth Stelzer of Benson, placed second at the local qualifying event and sixth at the sub-regional tournament for the National Drive, Chip, and Putt golf contest at Augusta, GA.

Arnold placed second overall in the age 7-9 boys’ division and first in the putting category during the Drive, Chip, and Putt local qualifier event, July 9 at Eagle Creek Golf Course in Willmar. 

The top three overall winners from that event advanced to the sub-regional qualifying contest, which was set for Sunday, Aug. 11 at Braemer Golf Course in Edina.

At the sub-regional qualifier, in which the top two advance to the Regional contest, Stelzer placed sixth of 15 individuals.  He had a high individual finish of fourth in the drive portion of the contest...
