The Benson wrestling team had one of its best seasons in the last few decades.  In fact, the last time Benson had at least 13 victories during a season was 1976-77, when the Braves went 14-3.

The Braves went 13-10 overall and 2-4 in the conference.  Benson was seeded third in the Section 5A Team Tourney and beat Paynesville in the first round 41-19 before falling to second-seeded Minnewaska Area in the semifinals, 49-18.

The Lakers went on to lose to top-seeded LPGE-Browerville-Parkers Prairie in the finals, 37-25, and LPGE-B-PP went on to win the Class A state title.

This was the first year for a winning record for the Benson wrestling program in 10 years and only the fourth time in the last 23 years the team has finished the season above .500.

Knutson went over 100 career victories as a junior, becoming the 13th BHS wrestler to do so, and ended his great career with a 138-68 record.  His 138 wins is second in school history, trailing only Ryan Thompson, who graduated with a 170-47 record.  Of the other seniors, Mondor is next with an unofficial 83 career victories...
