Ann M. Shaffer, 86, of Fridley, Minnesota passed away August 11, 2018.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Sunset Kapala-Glodek Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Visitation was from 1p.m. until the time of service.

Ann Mildred Payne was born  March 10, 1932 to Clarence and Mildred (Anderson) Payne, at their home south of DeGraff. She was baptized and confirmed into Christian Faith. She attended grade school at District 56 until the seventh grade. Her parents purchased a newer home in Benson and she finished her seventh   and eighth grades in the Benson school system.

She was married first to Harold Gulbrandson, November 5, 1949. They divorced several years later. Ann then married Edward Milo Shaffer, December 7, 1963. Ann and Ed purchased a home in Fridley, and they both retired while living there and Ann continued to live in the same home after Ed’s death, September 23, 2003.

Ann worked as a waitress for many, many years. When she retired, she had worked for Little Jack’s Steak House for 22 years. Ann enjoyed doing embroidery. Ann and Ed did some traveling with her sister Florence and husband Clarance Eischens. She enjoyed attending all of the Payne family reunions but missed this year due to illness. She also made quilts and in the last few years she watched more TV programs.

Ann is survived by her sisters: Gladys Irvin of Bismarck, ND, Florence Eischens of Glencoe and Wanda Morris of Renton,WA. She is also survived by her step-son Gregg Shaffer, twin grandsons Jonathan (Kara) and Emmett (Monique) Shaffer, along with a step-granddaughter, Jessie Shaffer (significant other, Brian Hoffman). She has seven step-great grandchildren: Presley and Jamison Shaffer, Catalena Shaffer, and Lorelei, Ary Anna,Willow and Arin Hoffman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mildred Payne, brothers Orville (Hazel Neuhaus), Clint (Leona Jacobs), Russell (LaBonna Jacobs), and C. Raymond (Barb Osborn) Payne.

She was preceded in death by sisters: Muriel Payne, Doris Neuhaus (Floyd), Bernice Fernholz (Leon) and her beloved husband Edward Milo Shaffer.

Interment Sunset Cemetery assisted the family with the services.
