MINUTES OF THE REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 777, Benson, Minnesota
Monday, June 18, 2018 - 5:30 p.m.
 Benson Senior High Media Center

The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Chair Chad Payne.  Members present:  Paul Carruth, Jodi DeJong-Hughes, Tammy Gunlogson, Mary Langan, Bill McGeary, Chad Payne, Gary Williams.
Members absent:  None.  Also present:  Dennis Laumeyer, Mike Knutson, Dave Benson, Pam Anderson, Don Brehmer, Jay Homrighausen, Jo Homrighausen, Mike Thompson, Joyce Nodleby, Mona Young, Walter Young, Ruth Ahrndt, Jon Ahrndt, Jill Stevens, Don Vergin, Roger Ebnet.
No additions to the Agenda.
The Agenda was approved.  
No Citizens Comments.
The board approved the Consent Agenda Items.
Progress Reports were presented by the administrators.
The board accepted the bid of $70,000 for the trades house.
The board approved the FY 2019 Budget with $11,750,100 in revenues and expenses of $12,382,700.
The approved not filling a 5th grade position and make 5th grade three sections.
The board approved Nieman Construction bid for re-roofing at Northside in the amount of $149,875 after the low bidder approved in April could not get bonding for the job.
The board passed a resolution continuing the board approved levy referendum in the amount of $300.
The board accepted Kranz Construction bid, minus Alternate bid #2, in the amount of $406,100 for the RTU auxiliary gym heating and ventilation project for summer of 2018. The roof unit will be replaced and new pipes and ductwork added.
The board approved the low bread quote from Pan-O-Gold at $43,375 and the low milk quote from Dean Foods/Land O’Lakes in the amount of $28,109.03 (escalating) for the 2018-2019 school year.
The board set the 2018-2019 food prices as follows:

Grades K-6 Snack Break: 3 checks/year $25 ea. or 1 check/year $75
 
School Boards are required by statute to adopt a Lead in Water Management Plan to spell out how the district will test and report results of lead in water. The district’s health and safety consultant, IEA, has helped develop the plan for our district. Lead testing will be completed this school year. The plan presented meets all state requirements.
The board accepted the Lead in Water Management Plan as proposed.
The Administrative Team has been working to develop strategic goals for the district. Principals Brad and Mike have shared these goals with staff, and will be implemented for the 2018-2019 school year.  This will be the road map to follow as we continue to make our school even better.
Mike Knutson reviewed the changes and additions to the 7-12 Student Handbook. Second reading in July.
