Katie Krieger earned MVP honors for the KMS softball team this year.

The KMS softball team had another great season in 2018, finishing fourth in the Section 3A Softball Tourney, placing second in the Camden Conference, and also finishing the season with a 19-4 overall record.  The Saints went 3-2 during the section tourney, but had their season end with a 7-2 loss to Lac qui Parle in the third-fourth place game.  LQP went on to lose to Wabasso (2-1) in the next round and Wabasso fell to Edgerton-SWC in the championship game, 4-3.

Tracy Area won this year’s Camden Conference title after edging KMS late in the season, 17-7 and 9-8.  The Panthers however, were upset in the first round of the Section 3AA Softball Tournament.  KMS went 16-2 in the conference this year, giving the Saints a 210-16 record against conference opponents over the last 16 years combined.

The KMS softball program has been in existence for 27 years and Eileen Suter has been the coach for all 27 years.  The Saints went 10-39 over the first three years, but have now had 24-straight winning seasons, including a 305-52 record over the last 15 seasons, including 11 seasons of at least 20 victories.

In the Section 3A Tourney, KMS opened up the 10-2 win over YME and 12-2 victory over Dawson-Boyd before falling to Wabasso, 10-7.  The Saints came back in the consolation bracket to beat BOLD (9-8) before falling to the Eagles.

The KMS softball team has qualified to state in 2004, 2007, 2011, 2012, and 2013,  winning the consolation state titles in 2004, 2007, and 2012, placing third in 2011, and fourth in 2013.  However, Edgerton has won the last five-straight Section 3A titles and went on to place first at state in 2016 and second last year, losing to New York Mills in the finals....
