Dennis W. Johnson

Dennis W. Johnson, 80, of Murdock, went to be with the Lord on March 27, 2018.  His funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 31st at Kerkhoven Evangelical Free Church.  Burial will be in Frank Lake Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 12-2:00 pm, prior to the service at the church.  Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home, Kerkhoven.  www.hafh.org

Dennis Wilbur Johnson was born September 21, 1937, in Benson, Minnesota to Ervin and Nina (Felt) Johnson.  He grew up north of Murdock on the family farm homesteaded by his Swedish great-grandparents. At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord.  He along with his family attended the Frank Lake Covenant Church where he was confirmed and followed the Lord in baptism. Dennis attended country school District #40 West and graduated from Murdock High School in 1955.  He served in the U.S. Army infantry stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany in 1959 and 1960.

On June 2, 1962, he was united in marriage to Marie Joan Thayer at the Evangelical Free Church in Kerkhoven, Minnesota.  This union was blessed with 55 years of marriage, 4 children and 10 grandchildren.

Dennis managed and operated the family dairy farm.  During that time, he participated in dairy industry programs such as DHIA and the American Dairy Association.  In 1985 he leased out the dairy business and continued crop farming for many years.

He was a faithful member of the Kerkhoven Evangelical Free Church where he served on the church board.  Dennis enjoyed singing in Swedish and often sang solos at church. 

Dennis was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a devoted follower of Christ. He will be deeply missed and always remembered by his wife, Marie; children: Bradley (Kimberli) Johnson of Lino Lakes, Brent (Laura) Johnson of Murdock, Melissa (Wayde) Johnson of Shakopee, Heidi (Paul) Krueger of Wyoming, MN; grandchildren: Brittany Lichty, Leah Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson, Morgan, Kirsten, Thomas and Joseph Johnson, Naomi, Dalton and Carissa Krueger; brother: Ron (Michele) Johnson; sister: Kathy (Orlyn) Lundborg.  Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
