Katherine Evelyn Jacobson, 88, of Scandinavian Lake, rural Glenwood, Minnesota, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017 at Homestead North in Benson under Rice Hospice Care.  

A Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10 with visitation two hours prior to the service at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson. A reception will follow. Interment will be in the Rolling Forks Cemetery.

Katherine was born November 23, 1928 in Camp Lake Township, Swift County, the daughter of Oliver and Bertha (Hoff) Pederson. She was baptized January 20, 1929 at the Swift Falls Lutheran Church by Rev. J.J. Strand.

She was confirmed June 14, 1942 also at Swift Falls Lutheran Church by Rev. Melvin P. Kaatrud.

Katherine graduated from Benson High School in 1946.

September 23, 1948, Katherine was united in marriage to Abner Melbourne Jacobson at the Swift Falls Lutheran Church by Rev. G. G. Gunsten. They made their home in Benson where they raised their two sons, later moving to their lake home on Scandinavian Lake. Katherine loved to cook, bake and entertain family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed.

Katherine is survived by her husband Abner, sons: Kenny (Renae) and Bruce (Cathy); grandchildren: Ben, Amanda, Michael, Jason and Ryan; great-grandchildren: Sophia, Clara, Liam, Nathan, Lucy, Summer, Abigail, Parker,  and other family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Bertha (Hoff) Pederson; infant son; brother, David (Hilda); and sisters: Mabel (Lauritz) Loen, Berdina (Irvin) Svor and Doris (Harry) Davidson.

Memorials are preferred to Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church or Rice Hospice.

Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
