Funeral Notice

Benson, Minnesota – De Wayne E. Eye, age 66, formerly of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, died on Monday morning July 3, 2017, at the Meadow Lane Nursing Home in Benson. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson and will continue on Monday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls, Minnesota. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017, at 11:00 am at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls. Interment will follow the service in the East Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church Cemetery. Zniewski Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. 

      De Wayne Everett Eye, age 66 was born in Clarkfield, Minnesota on July 31, 1950, the son of Everett and Sylvia Skalbeck Eye. He was baptized and confirmed at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls, Minnesota. He grew up on the farm near Hanley Falls and graduated from Hanley Falls High School. After high school he worked in Granite Falls at Rogers Hydraulics until they closed the worked for the farmer’s elevator in Hanley Falls and for the city of Hanley Falls, hauling snow. 

     He loved to work on the farm and worked part time for Earl and Lowell Gustafson. He currently worked at the DAC in Benson. He was a charter member of the Pioneer Power Club and a longtime member of the Hanley Falls Fire Department. He enjoyed farming and old tractors. De Wayne loved animals and spending time with his nieces and nephews. He was called from this life on Monday morning, July 3, at the Meadowlane Nursing Home in Benson. He attained the age of 66 years, 11 months and 2 days.

     He is survived by his sister Jane (Jack) Kjos, of Benson; a niece Heidi (Dave) Christensen of Camas, Washington; a nephew Andrew (Julie) Kjos of Jupiter, Florida; and two great nephews Noah and Mark Kjos, and a great niece Elin Kjos, as well as many other  relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Everett and Sylvia. Blessed be his memory.
