The Benson girls basketball team scored the final four points of the first half to go into halftime of its game last Tuesday night against Yellow Medicine East with a 23-23 tie.  However, the Sting outscored the Braves, 35-25, in the second half to pull out the 58-48 non-conference win.

Amanda Nissen had a season-high 24 points to lead the Braves against YME, including 5-of-12 from 3-point range.  However, the Saints had a big advantage from the free-throw line, making 18 free-throws for the game compared to just six for the Braves.

Benson fell to 0-6 with the loss, but it was still the high offensive point total for the Braves this season, and also the low amount points the defense has allowed through six games.

Benson, which does not have any games scheduled this week, is set to play at Sauk Centre in its next game, Tuesday, Jan. 3, followed by a game at Melrose Area, Friday, Jan. 6, and a game at home with Minnewaska Area, Thursday, Jan. 12....
