Swift County’s search for a new administrator continues with the board of commissioners ready to view video interviews with up to eight candidates so that it can narrow its search to finalists who will be interviewed in person.

Former Administrator Mike Pogge-Weaver resigned his position in October to take the job of city manager in Carroll, Iowa. With his announcement that he was leaving, the county started an immediate search for a new administrator with the assistance of Twin Cities executive search firm Springsted. However, it isn’t expecting to have a new administrator on board until sometime in January.

It has hired Jan Fransen to be its interim county administrator. She has worked with county government for 24 years and served 18 years as the Jackson County coordinator retiring from the position last year.

The eight candidates have been sent a questionnaire and an application addendum, Fransen told commissioners at their Nov. 29 meeting. They had until the end of Nov. 30 to complete and return the documents. Two had returned them as of Nov. 28.

The next step is to have candidates participate in a recorded, video interview, Fransen said. There are three questions that are asked on the videos with each answer not to exceed 3 minutes. Commissioners would then be sent a link to the videos and could decide who they wanted to interview based on those videos.
