Glenn K. Rood, 77, of Sunburg, Minnesota died Wednesday afternoon, April 13, 2016, at his farm in rural Sunburg.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m.  Monday, April 18, 2016 at Hope Lutheran Church in Sunburg. Visitation was held from 3-5 p.m.  Sunday, April 17, at Hope Lutheran Church and continued Monday for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Glenn Kenneth Rood was born January 20, 1939 on the family farm on the shores of Monson Lake near Sunburg, the son of Elmer and Clara (Ellingson) Rood.  He grew up and attended Sunday school in Sunburg and attended country school and school in Kerkhoven. He was confirmed at West Norway Lake Lutheran Church.

In 1968, he married Linda Thorson and they were later divorced. He worked on gas lines in Shakopee, built silos for Hanson’s Construction in Canada.

August 12, 1995, he married Linda Corrine Dokken. They farmed southeast of Sunburg. He was a member of the Eagles Club in Willmar, and a member of the Monson Lake Lutheran Church.  He loved to hunt pheasants, fishing, gardening, and farming.  

He was called from this life  Wednesday afternoon, April 13, 2016 on his farm near Sunburg.

He is survived by his wife Linda; his step children: Jodi (Mike) Tracy of Wolverton, Lisa (Joe) Keaveny of Wahpeton, North Dakota, Kim (Nick) Bauman of Fargo, North Dakota, and Tim Bauman of Bloomington; his step grandchildren Allexis, Morgan, Elise, Neve, Sephen, Carmella, Christopher, and Jordyn; his brothers and sisters: Demoine Rood, Leslie (Kathy) Rood, Hazel Thonvald, Donna King, Linda (Harlan) Peters, and Jenny Jacobson; and several other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Clara, his brother Elmo, a brother in law “Swanny” and a nephew Rick Thonvold.

Zniewski Funeral Home of Benson assisted the family with the arrangements.
