MINUTES OF THE REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 777,
Benson, Minnesota
Monday, November 16, 2015 – 5:30 p.m.  
Benson High School Media Center

The meeting was called to order at 5:32 p.m. by Chair Chad Payne.  Members present:  Andy Abner, Jason Madden, Bill McGeary, Al Pagel, Chad Payne, Gary Williams.
Members absent:  Jodi DeJong-Hughes.  Also present:  Dennis Laumeyer, Mike Knutson, Dave Benson, Pam Anderson, Chris Bartosiewski, Mike Thompson, Jill Gunderson, Anne Duncan, Steve Ricard, Mitch Maurer, and Shelly Vergin.
One addition to the Agenda:  Resolution to support the Appleton prison.  
Consent Agenda Items were approved as presented.
Progress Reports were presented by administrators.
The board approved MRVED submitting a Flexible Learning Year application to include a pre Labor Day start for Benson Schools.  
Dennis and Chief Hodge have been researching options for school board security which include a wireless system with a portable button; an officer in uniform at each meeting paid at an hourly rate; or having the school resource officer at each meeting which would use comp time off on school days.  Costs for school board security options will be presented at the next school board meeting.
Chris Bartosiewski, of Desautels, Bartosiewski and Associates, presented the Fiscal Year 2015 audit report and explained the report and the findings to the board.
The board accepted the FY15 Audit as presented.  
The board accepted the auditor’s recommendation to change the fixed asset threshold to $5,000.
Community Education Director, Shelly Vergin, gave an update on programs:  School Readiness, Discovery Kids, and explained Parent Aware rating and commented on survey results and new ideas for pool activities.
The board approved the Non-Certified Settlement as presented with an increase of 4.1% year 1 and 3.3% year 2. The board approved the administration settlement as presented.  
The board adopted the resolution to support the Appleton Prison.
