Ret. Col. Paul S. Bjorngjeld, 81, was reunited with his wife and best friend Donna in heaven on April 23, 2015 after both battling cancer.  Paul was born April 4, 1934 in Benson, Minnesota.  He was the son of the late Sidney and Alma (Pederson) Bjorngjeld of Danvers, MN.

Paul attended St Cloud College and then the University of Minnesota where he received his doctorate degree in Dentistry in 1958. He married his wife Donna Nelson from Benson, MN on August 20th, 1958.  He initially practiced as a Dentist in Glenwood Minnesota for a brief time and then enlisted in the US Army where he served 20 years as an officer serving in areas including the Korean War and 3 years at SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe), Belgium where he provided dentistry to the then US Secretary of Defense, Alexander Hague.

Paul and Donna were passionately patriotic; always displaying the US flag outside their home, faithful contributors to the Disabled Veterans Association, and “Fox News” was always on TV. But Paul’s greatest pride and joy was his family.

Paul and Donna raised 3 children: John (Ann) Bjorngjeld of Sugarland TX, Ann (Rick) Simmons of Aledo, TX, and Matthew (Maria) Bjorngjeld of Sugarland, TX.  They had 9 grandchildren: (John/Ann):   Andrew Bjorngjeld and Sam Bjorngjeld; (Ann/Rick): Stephen Simmons, Matthew Simmons, James Simmons, Benjamin Simmons, and Beth Ann Simmons; and (Matthew/Maria):  Marissa Bjorngjeld and Jacob Bjorngjeld.

Paul and Donna retired to Sugarland TX to be near family and enjoyed Friday night family dinners, trips to the Coast, and fishing with the kids and grandkids.

Paul was devout in his faith even through the hardest trials, always believing and saying “God is good”.

Paul is survived by his children, grandchildren and sister Ruth Berryman.
