Funeral services for Onalee Kleven, 82, of Benson, Minnesota, formerly of Madison, are at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church, Madison, MN.  Rev. Kirk Meseck will officiate.   Special music by organist Linda Anderson and a duet is by Julie Hill and Gary Boraas. 

Active casket bearers were Jeff Olson, Jeff Rheingans, Rod Voorhees, Gary Boraas, Lee Boraas and Chuck Tatge.  The concluding service and burial was at Hegre Cemetery of rural Madison.
Onalee A. Knutson was born  October 6, 1932 to parents Clarence and Ella (Fossum) Knutson in Yankton County, SD near Irene, SD.  She was baptized at Meldal Lutheran Church of rural Center Point, SD.   When she was three years old, she moved with her family to Turner County, SD. She confirmed her faith at Bethany Lutheran Church near Hurley, SD.  She attended the Hurley Consolidated School and graduated in 1950.  After high school, Onalee attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD and graduated in 1954.  She then found employment at the Lac qui Parle County Welfare Department in Madison, Minnesota.
Onalee was united in marriage to Grant Kleven  September 14, 1958 at Bethany Lutheran Church.  She and Grant farmed in Lakeshore Township until Grant's death in 1972. She and the children continued to live on the farm.  Onalee worked as a Special Education Teacher at Appleton Public School and the Lac qui Parle Valley School System.  After her retirement from her school teaching, she worked for two years each at the Family Service Department and the Western Guard. Madison was her home for many years.
In September of 2001, she moved to Benson.  She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church.  Onalee felt that the love of family and close friends was God's greatest blessing to her.  Stewardship of talents was best expressed in college, church and community choirs and ensembles at both Trinity Lutheran and Faith Lutheran Churches.  Onalee served on the church council, was a participant and leader of Bible Studies, WELCA and work group, Library Board and the Lac qui Parle Fair Committee in Faith Lutheran Church.  She also taught Sunday School and release time school for many years.  She played piano for the Primary Department in church and was a member and past officer of the Lac qui Parle Study Club.
Onalee passed away May 29, 2015 at the Minnewaska Nursing Home in Starbuck. She had attained 82 years, seven months and 23 days.
Left to mourn and remember Onalee's life are her children Douglas Kleven of Pella, Iowa and Kristin (Chris) Amundson of Benson,  and granddaughter Megan. She is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Ella, husband Grant, brother Kenneth Knutson and sister Eleanor Knutson.
