Roger Allen “Buck” Bronniche, of Huntington Beach, CA (formerly of Benson), passed away at the age of 80, at his residence, surrounded by family on April 26, 2015, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

Roger was born February 16, 1935, in Benson, Minnesota, the son of the late Hattie and Clifford Bronniche. He was the middle son of 7 siblings. He attended school in Benson through high school, graduating class of 1953.  He enjoyed playing football and playing trumpet amongst other activities.  Upon his graduation he enlisted in the Navy.

Roger served in the U.S. Navy as a weather technician aboard the carrier USS Shangri-La during the Korean War. He married Wanda Odell West on February 17, 1956, in Santa Monica, California. 

After his discharge, he attended and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Mortuary Science.  After some time, he switched careers and was employed by Johnson and Johnson Pharmaceuticals, eventually joining Baxter International in southern California working mainly in dialysis sales. In the 1980’s Roger was self-employed in medical sales.  Roger and Wanda moved to Billings, Montana in 1992 where he continued his career in medical sales.  He eventually went to work for Port-O-Medic as office manager.  After his retirement, he came full circle, working part-time in the mortuary field for Michelotti Sawyer Mortuary of Billings.

Roger is survived by his daughter, Siri Bronniche of Bullhead City, AZ; daughter Teri (Mike) Newell of Huntington Beach, CA; son Jeff Bronniche; grandchildren, Jhason Hardy of NH; Jacob (Keylaj) Hardy currently serving in the Army at Ft Irwin, CA; Sean and Blake Newell of Huntington Beach, CA; great grandsons Ayden(4 years) and Julius Hardy (5 months) of Ft. Irwin, CA; brother, Lyndon Bronniche of Glenwood, MN; and sisters, Janice Ecklund of Edina, MN; Karen (Robert) Manska of Billings, MT; and Linda (Donald) Svor of Grasston, MN.

Roger was preceded in death by his wife Wanda; his daughter Julie; and his brothers; Clifford and Richard.

Roger was an avid angler during his time in CA.  He owned several of his own boats and when he gave up owning boats, he continued fishing at Dana Point or Newport Beach, CA, where he became very popular with his fellow fishermen and deck hands. It was Roger’s wish to donate his organs and tissue for science and education. After cremation following their wishes, Roger and Wanda who passed in 2001 will have a burial at sea. A private service will be held at sea on one of his favorite boats.
