The funeral service for Elfrieda Hamann was held Monday, October 20, 2014, at 11 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shible Township.  Pastor Donald Klatt officiated at the service.  Jackie Schmidt was the organist and accompanied the congregation in singing “Beautiful Savior” and “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”.  The grandchildren and great-grandchildren sang “Borning Cry” and Brian Hoffman sang “The Lord’s Prayer”.
Casketbearers were Todd Meichsner, Bryan Meichsner, Michael Wieser, Matthew Wieser, Kyle Running, Ryan Gronholz, Jacob Stock and Matthew Stock.  
Interment was in the church cemetery.
Elfrieda Bertha Louise Hamann was born August 16, 1905, in Fairfield Township, Swift County to parents William H. and Anna (Orloski) Schliep.  She was baptized September 24, 1905 and confirmed  March 28, 1920 both at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairfield Township.  Elfrieda attended Hancock school, country school and Fairfield Parochial School through the eighth grade.
October 22, 1925, she was married to William Otto Hamann at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairfield Township.  She was raised on a farm and was a true homemaker and farm wife her entire life.  After their marriage, they farmed for many years, retiring into Appleton in 1968.  After William’s death  May 13, 1985, Elfrieda moved into an apartment in 1997.  She entered the Appleton Care Center in January of 2011.
She was an avid reader and loved her garden and flowers.  She did beautiful handiwork, crocheting, and embroidery.  She was a wonderful cook and baker.  She enjoyed bowling with friends as well as playing cards and games with her family.  She was a true Minnesota Twins baseball fan.  Elfrieda was an active member of her church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school, active in the L.W.M.L., and Bible study.   Elfrieda always put her family first.  She was a wonderful, patient mother and always enjoyed visits from her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Elfrieda died Thursday morning, October 16, at Appleton Area Health Services.  She had attained the age of 109 years, and two months.
She is survived by three daughters: Lorraine Meichsner of Morris, Angela Hoffman of Wheaton, and Clarice (Virgil) Stock of Appleton; daughter-in-law, Carol Hamann, of Appleton; brother, LeRoy (Dorothy) Schliep of Appleton,  two sisters-in-law: May Hamann of Granger, WA, and Lois Hamann of Benson; 20 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 44 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband William; her son Dale; three sisters: Hertha Haben, Mildred Sachs and Mabel Munsterman; her brother, Arthur Schliep; and two sons-in-law: Raymond Meichsner and Clifford Hoffman.
