Opal Cramlet Selix, 85, of Benson, died Thursday, August 14, 2014, at the Glenwood Retirement Center in Glenwood, Minnesota.
Funeral services were 11 a.m., Monday, August 18, 2014, at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Benson. Visitation was held for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment was in the Benson City Cemetery.
Opal Cramlet Selix was born September 3, 1928, in Swift County Minnesota, to Frank James Polk and Ida Bertha (Schwartz) Cramlet. She grew up and attended country school in Swift County.
October 9, 1946, Opal was united in marriage to Emery Orville Selix at the Faith Lutheran Church in St. Paul, Minnesota. This union was blessed with more than 48 years of marriage, one son, two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. After their marriage, Emery and Opal moved to their farm in Swift County. Opal was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed farming and gardening, and loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.
Opal passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014, at the Glenwood Retirement Center in Glenwood, Minnesota. She had attained 85 years, 11 months, and 11 days of age.
She is survived by her son, Dan (Vickie) Selix of Benson; sister, Helen Maus of Inver Grove Heights; grandchildren, Jason (Erin) Selix of Albany and Celeste (James) Dickey of Alexandria; great-grandchildren: Cole, Molly, Quinn, and Brett Selix and Greta Dickey; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emery, February 9, 1995; parents, Frank and Ida Cramlet; brothers: Jess, Elmer, Derwood, Ray, and LuDale; and sisters: Jessie Schwendemann, Goldie Horton, Shirley Larson, Mildred Selix, Leona Quam, and Betty Selix.
