Arlene Theresa Clemen, 92, of Benson, died Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Scandi Haven Village in Benson, Minnesota.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in St. Bridget’s Catholic Cemetery in DeGraff.
Arlene Theresa Clemen was born June 19, 1931 in Murdock, Minnesota, the daughter of Francis and Magdalene (Zeller) Suter. She was baptized into the Catholic faith at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock, and was confirmed at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in DeGraff . Arlene grew up in rural DeGraff, attending District 28 Country School and graduated from Benson High School in Benson.
September 3, 1949, Arlene was united in marriage to Edward James Clemen at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in DeGraff, by Father McKeever. They were blessed with seven children and 60 years of marriage. Arlene was a housewife and helped on the family farm in rural DeGraff.
Arlene was active in her church, the St. Bridget’s Catholic Church Altar and Rosary Society, and the Befriender Group. She enjoyed embroidery, gardening, taking walks, playing cards, and traveling.
Arlene is survived by her children: William (Kathy) Clemen of Appleton, Merina Marotzke of Dawson, Virginia (Kent) Siefkes of West End, NC, Thomas (Susan) Clemen of Albany, Richard (Diane) Clemen of Exton, PA, John (Brenda) Clemen of Prescot, AZ, and Lisa Clemen of Superior, WI; nine grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Edward Clemen; parents Frank and Lena Suter; grandson Travis Marotzke; son-in-law Wayne Marotzke; sisters Doris and Frances; and brothers: Harold, Alvin, and Leonard.
