Area has seen 9 inches of rain since Aug. 20

With eight tenths of an inch of rain Monday afternoon into early Tuesday morning, the Benson area has now received 2.95 inches of precipitation in September. That is 18 hundredths above the monthly average of 2.77 inches and we are only halfway through September.

If there were any doubts about the drought in the area being broken, they should be laid to rest by now. Since Aug. 20, the Benson area has received 9 inches of rain.

This is the last week of summer. It officially ends next Wednesday as the fall season arrives at 2:20 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 22...
