April was cold, windy, wet, cloudy and too long

April 2022 was the third coldest on record for the Benson area and the fourth straight month this year with below average temperatures. Highs were 12 degrees below average and lows 5 degrees below average.
While our climate is warming, the Benson area has seen four of the coldest Aprils on record since 2008 – 2008 is tied with 1975 for the fourth coldest.
The coldest April on record was just four years ago in 2018 with a mean temperature, the average of the highs and lows, 34.6 degrees. The second coldest was 2013 with a mean temperature of 35.7 degrees. This April, the mean temperature was 36.8 degrees.
