Though a week remains in May, the area has already seen its wettest April to May period on record. So far, 10.93 inches of precipitation has fallen in April and May, breaking the old two-month record of 10.81 inches recorded in 1965.
There is a 20 percent chance for additional rain Tuesday night and a 50 percent chance for rain Wednesday, which would only add to the record total.
May’s 6.92 inches of rain makes it the second wettest on record with 1993 holding first place with 7.25 inches of rain.
